Some styles place a great attention on classical teachings which incorporate traditional movements (such as kata) and philosophy,while others focus more on competition training ( kumite while ) and some instructors teach all aspects of the art in a balanced way.

Karate originally evolved on the Japanese island of Okinawa where the carrying of weapons was forbidden and the inhabitants had to learn to protect themselves by other means.

Karate is the most widely practiced of the oriental martial arts .there are numerous styles of karate practiced such as kyukushin,wado Rio and shotokan and it’s influence even spread into many other martial arts .shotokan karate is characterized by its long,low stances,its powerful techniques and its dynamic forms and founded by Gichin Funakoshi and developed by his son Yoshitaka Funakoshi to the form we know today. some of the benefits playing karate are:
